Joseph traveled through many states ending up in Flint, Michigan. While in Flint, Joseph had trouble getting work because at that time (in the 1920's) there was much resentment towards people of Polish descent. He therefore changed the spelling of his name to GLUBKE (rhymes with bub-key).22
