Notes for James W. Barry
This is from research done by Paul C. Maroney prior to 1983.
JAMES W. BARRY or 'Jim' as Maroney will call him "made his home with the Greening family after his wife died in 1912. He was employed by the Detroit board of Education as an engineer, a position which he held until his retirement. Jim's wife was Jane McCollum, to whom he was married in 1904, she died in 1912. They had three children, Luan, who died in 1916, the other children being, Ruth who died at 468 South St., Biddleford, Maine. Death took her July 11, 1972, according to a letter I received from her husband. The third daughter was Dorothy of Detroit. For many years I was an insurance agent and I had both, the Gates' and Nina Greening's property insured in my agency. Jim and Nina, after both had retired and lived at 'Greening's Gove' at Clear Lake, just west of Chelsea, Michigan, during the summer months and they spent their winters near Maitland, Florida where they owned a small orange orchard. Jim was born in Northfield township on September 9, 1881 and died July 25, 1957. Funeral services were held at St. Christine Catholic church in Detroit and burial took place in Holy Sepulchre Cemeter probably beside his wife."
Jim was a WW I vet.
